Janice M. Saragoni, president of Saragoni & Company, is an accomplished executive with expertise in all areas of public relations and civic affairs and leads a network of industry experts engaged in projects that are tailored to each client’s needs.
Active in a variety of cultural and non-profit organizations, Jan is vice-chair of the Board of Trustees of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She is a member of the Executive Committee, Save Venice, Boston Chapter and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board, John F. Kennedy School of Government magazine; a Committee Member of the UNICEF's “Children First Speakers Program”; an Advisory Board Member of the Boston Public Market; and a member of the Harvard Club of Boston, where she serves on the Membership Committee.
Over the years Jan has served as a commissioner of the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission and a director of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority. She also previously served as a board member of the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus, the Cambridge Office of Tourism, and the Boston Police Athletic League. She was a founding member of the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, responsible for the development of Boston's Greenway Parks.
Before launching her firm, Jan was director of marketing for the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority/Hynes Convention Center, director of communications for the Massachusetts Department of Public Works, and an assistant press secretary in the mayor’s office, Boston City Hall. As a correspondent for the Associated Press, Jan worked in A.P. bureaus in Louisiana, Mississippi and Georgia.
Jan has been named to several notable lists, including Boston magazine’s “Fabulous Forty” and its “Fifty Most Powerful People in Boston.” She has been an on-air contributor on WGBH-FM, a PBS radio affiliate, where she co-hosted the “J-Squared” segment with WGBH-TV reporter and Executive Arts Editor Jared Bowen. She also is a recipient of the I Migliori Award from the Pirandello Lyceum.
On the digital front, Jan is managing editor of “styleboston.tv” and “LeftCoast.LA,” lifestyle websites that were first broadcast as an Emmy Award-winning television show.
A Brighton native who attended Boston public schools, Jan holds a master of public administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and earned a bachelor of arts degree in American Studies from Amherst College. She also attended Cape Cod Community College and completed a program of advanced studies at the University of Perugia, Italy. Jan holds dual American and Italian citizenship, and maintains a residence in Greece.
